the list

We are all guilty of it so no need to deny it....we have all formulated a "list" to include our goals, dreams, hopes, plans, etc for our future. No, it is NOT a bad thing to have a list of attainable goals or simply dreams to include things that "we have always wanted to do". The "list" that I am talking about is the one that includes the childhood desires that we long to reach far before the proper time has arrived. For example, if you were asked "where do you see your life in 10 years, and what do you think will happen between then and now?" Many of the answers that you would state come from your original list. To get to the point: these "lists" that we create typically begin to haunt us as the years pass. We have this LIST of "our dreams" that, as years fly by, quickly begin to drop off and realize that we just might not be able to check each of them off. Ultimately, the dreams that we have always looked forward to are now causing us to feel like failures because we see that our life can (and WILL) very quickly take a turn in the opposite direction.

The end-all-be-all here is that we need to exchange "our" list for HIS list! His list for our life is already scripted and it has been since before we were even born. His plan is the ULTIMATE plan! He knows exactly where He wants us and what He wants for us. As Christians, we must hold fast to this truth and TRUST IN HIS "LIST" FOR OUR LIVES. The secret to joy in ANY season of life is exchanging our lists for his list! The world today tells us that through "consuming" we will find happiness: consuming relationships, consuming possessions, and consuming glory for ourselves. Ironically, the secret to life is not found in consuming but in BEING CONSUMED- consumed by a passion for God.
Over the past year, the Lord has completely altered my "original list", but in turn, His list for my life has been so much greater than my own! Trust that He will provide and know that He will never offer anything that you cannot handle. Lastly, be reminded that "everything is beautiful in His time". He will reveal and annouce His plans for you in HIS TIME. Coming from a girl who has very little of it: BE PATIENT and wait on the Lord.

"Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails." Proverbs 19:21

I challenge you to simply converse with the Lord about your list, repent of it, and ask that He begin to check off the boxes that remain empty on His list for you.
